Our dedicated Metagentech Center for Genetic Disease offers outpatient and genetic counseling services in the field of Medical Genetics, along with laboratory applications in both cytogenetics and molecular genetics, including chromosome analysis, FISH, PCR, RT-PCR, and DNA sequencing. ABOUT US
The Metagentech Center for Genetic Disease began its establishment in the second half of 2021, received its Center for Genetic Diseases license on the Anatolian side of Istanbul in January 2022, and began its activities in the field of genetics. It has begun providing services in the fields of cytogenetics and molecular cytogenetics. The geneticist and center manager is Prof. Dr. İbrahim AKALIN, and Specialist Dr. İnan HÜLÜR serves as the Center's Managing Director.
Our Genetic Specialist Prof. Dr. İbrahim AKALIN graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (Medicine in English) in 2002. He became a specialist in the Department of Medical Genetics at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2007. Between 2008 and 2009, he served as a Fellow in Gene Therapy at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA. Between 2009 and 2012, he completed his compulsory service at Trabzon Maternity Hospital and established the first licensed Genetics laboratory in the region. He began his academic career at Istanbul Medeniyet University in 2012 and became a Professor at Maltepe University in 2020. He has been serving as the founding and responsible physician of our center since 2022.
